A small glossary of Spiral Journey terminology and related organizations

Work That Reconnects (WTR) is the overarching term for the work that was shaped by Joanna Macy and many others, outlined in books such as Active Hope, Coming Back to Life, Coming Together in the Great Turning. It is the framework with which we facilitate all our programs and that we are teaching in our foundational and advanced Facilitator Development Program. The Work That Reconnects is open source work. All practices are shared openly and facilitators are explicitly invited to expand on and adapt practices to local and cultural situations.

Work That Reconnects Network (WTRN) is an international network of people who facilitate or otherwise are interested in and support the Work That Reconnects – a lot of WTR facilitators are members with the network, including the Spiral Journey facilitation team: ian, Molly, Rukmini, Sara, Yulia and Constance.

Spiral Journey (SJ) used to be a partnership between Mutima, Molly and Constance. Mutima left this summer, leaving the partnership to Molly and Constance. Spiral Journey was formed to bring the Spiral Journey Facilitator Development Program into being. It has shifted, adding new facilitators of the program and also adding more programs. Spiral Journey transitioned from being a legal partnership to a non-profit organization.

Since the 1st of January 2026, we are operating as the main project of Gaia Passages (GP), a non-profit that Constance had co-founded years ago and that had fallen dormant, and is now moving into a second phase of its life.
