Welcome to Spiral Journey

International Programs and Facilitator Development in the Work That Reconnects

Working toward the Great Turning, Decolonization, Anti-Oppression and a Thriving World for All

Spiral Journey Programs are Co-Facilitated by: Molly Brown, Sara El-Sayeh, Ian Goh, Rukmini Iyer, Yulia Smagorinsky, and Constance Washburn

In a world that is changing fast, many of us are carrying both love and heartbreak for the Earth—often silently, often alone.
In “Rewilding the Self” we will come together–not to rush into action, but to reconnect with our interbeing and a larger sense of self.

In this moment in history, people are waking up to the polycrisis. Violence in its many manifestations is causing pain and suffering. Climate disruption, systemic racism and oppression, endless war, species extinction, and our political reality foment fear and despair. Many people are looking for ways to share their pain for the world in a supportive community. They also want to offer their particular gifts to contribute to a Great Turning to a life-sustaining and just society. Our programs give facilitators the support needed to make this transformational journey themselves and to assist others on the path to coming back to life.

Come join an international cohort of  people dedicated to the Great Turning towards a just and thriving future for all beings.  Participate in a variety of programs including our 8-month online learning community to develop facilitation skills in the Work That Reconnects.
One’s ability to guide others through the Work That Reconnects is enhanced by one’s own personal work, knowledge of and engagement in social and ecological challenges, developing one’s skills as a facilitator, and working to dismantle the social systems and conditioning that induce oppressive and compliant behavior (often unconsciously).

Our International Facilitator Development Program (FDP) weaves all these dimensions together. It is designed to meet the needs of people who aspire to facilitate the Work That Reconnects, supporting emerging and experienced facilitators in deepening their theoretical understanding of the Work and developing their skills in facilitation so they feel confident in bringing the Work to their communities.

In June 2025, the Spiral Journey Facilitator Development Program has made some significant changes. Co-Creator of the Spiral Journey Facilitator Development Program (FDP) and Creator of the Decolonized Expanded Spiral of the Work That Reconnects, Queen Rev. Mutima Imani, has decided to to leave the Spiral Journey International Facilitator Development Program and is moving on to further her work and the development of the Decolonized Expanded Spiral.

We thank her for fundamentally shaping the FDP and the Work That Reconnects as well as for many years of her deep commitment to the FDP. Mutima will continue to offer some of her workshops through Spiral Journey.

We have expanded our Facilitator Development Program (FDP) facilitation team with three graduates of our program: Rukmini Iyer from India, Sara El-Sayeh from Egypt, and ian goh from Malaysia. We are excited to expand team capacities, experience, and wisdom with these talented people! See their bios and photos on the about us page.

As I look back over my life, I see the joy I’ve had in facilitating the Work That Reconnects. The sense of solidarity with the people who work with me is beyond description. So I am excited about the many trainings and support groups being offered for facilitating the Work That Reconnects. Many of these, in different forms and locations around the world, are featured in my book, A Wild Love for the World (2020).
I want to call attention to one program that is especially thorough and foundational, called Spiral Journey. It’s a six month online program that is guided by a veteran team of Molly Brown, who wrote Coming Back to Life The Updated Guide to the Work That Reconnects with me, and Constance Washburn and Mutima Imani. I’m enthusiastic about the amplitude of it: it includes an in-depth understanding of the sweep and dynamics of the Work, and an overall sense of the competencies that you want to develop and look for in yourself. It goes right into the social, political, and ecological issues so critical at this now-or-never time for life on Earth–and that includes the work around race, gender, and social justice.

Whenever I visit one of the Spiral Journey sessions, I love experiencing how lively and international the participants are. People from different countries, backgrounds, and ethnicities are discovering their power and dignity and creativity as they engage in the Work That Reconnects.

Interhelp builds people’s capacity to face the social-ecological demands of these complex times. Through the creation of inclusive, liberatory, and transformative group experiences evolving from the Work That Reconnects, we aim to shift overwhelm and despair into creative engagement, so that individuals and communities may act skillfully, wisely, and courageously.
