This guidebook represents a decade’s long emergent, transformative, expansion of the Work That Reconnects. It arises from the practical experience of Work That Reconnects facilitators in workshops, educational sessions, intensives, and writing. It expands group facilitation approaches for the Work That Reconnects and related group work, with a collective liberation focus, so that its powerful impact is available to more people. Drawing on the practical experience of facilitators in various parts of the world, this book explores how systems of oppression have been operating in many group spaces, and offers approaches for shifting these dynamics of oppression whenever and wherever people gather to do transformative group work. The book will be especially useful to people facilitating the Work That Reconnects or related group work.

The book expands what genuine activist community can be, extending its reach, leaving no one out, and ensuring the safety, dignity and belonging for all. Ultimately the book helps create group work that is more finely tuned to the ever-changing actualities of our current polycrisis and the Great Turning.
